Tuesday morning, and yet it feels like a Monday.
Well, blame it on a recent holiday which was yesterday. Heck! I don't even know why there was a holiday.
It's all in the past and I don't care anymore.

What I care for is this... I finally got my pair of Puma kicks.
Yes, minna-san. I have a new pair of sweet kicks guaranteed to make my next door neighbor drool. Hahahahha. I don't even know my neighbor. Enough of that. Let me tell you how my day went.

It was around noon when I finally decided to go check out Puma store in Festival mall.

I walked inside the store and this really nice sales associate (Vergel) greeted me "Welcome back sir!"
Obviously, I had been to this store before and and this time, It's just right to finally seal the deal.

Vergel showed me some new stuff and I immediately spotted this sweet looking kicks on the wall.

It was love at first sight.

However, I also tried on the black one but according to Winlove, who I called on the phone and was taking a nap, to just get the gray with orange trim. Though he sounded very sleepy on the phone, I am somewhat very pleased to hear that we are on the same page. It didn't stop there. I also called my friend Jojo who was at the LTO busting his ass renewing his driver's license. He too agreed on the color.

I signaled to Vergel that I am finally taking the shoes. Hanged up the phone and went straight to the counter to pay for it. If I look back one more time, things will get crazier I may have to change my mind. HAHAHAHA

So here I am, a proud owner of Puma Drift Cat.

After I walked out of the store. I looked at my watch and It was already past lunch time. No wonder, my stomach is rumbling inside. There were a few restos that I saw on the way to the parking lot but they're not quite what I was looking for. Besides, I needed to go to BDO SM Southmall and thought that I'd just stick to Binalot and eat my favorite combo meal.

I left Southmall around 4pm and it was about to rain really hard. My brother gets off from school around the same time so I decided to drive to his school and pick him up. I waited about 10 minutes at the gate and saw him with a classmate. By the time we are about to leave the school. It started raining cats and dogs and I decided to give his friend a lift back home.

Plaza Hulo: Pet Tiange

My alarm didn't go off as I had set it. I should be up before 5AM to
do my morning routine and be on the road before 530AM. Guess what? I
woke up past 530AM! Even my younger brother got up later than I did.
We were really running behind schedule. After a good 30 minutes
whirlwind of sorts. We were finally on the road a little bit after 6AM.

The drive to Hulo was not what I have expected. At the back of my
head, it will be a painful long drive from Alabang. But, I was proven
wrong when we reached Radial Road No.10 in less than 30 minutes. Even
the traffic there was alright, just a few big trucks and several
private vehicles including us.

We arrived Plaza Hulo at 710AM. Found a very nice parking space near
the school which is just at the back of the plaza. A few blocks away,
I can already see a huge crowd piling up. There were people selling
ornamental plants, fruits and what have you right before you reach the
plaza. Once there, I saw a swarm of people with small cages filled
with different kinds of birds, snakes, lizards, chickens and of course
dogs.

There were 4 of us, my brother, household staff, myself + my pet
maltese.

People were asking if we are selling our pet dog. They thought she was
also for sale! My staff, Gelyn said NO! in her signature high pitched
voice and hugged my pet dog very tight. We all just laughed. After
that incident, there were about 5 or more who asked if she was really
for sale.

Around 730 AM, we made our first purchase. A young brown pigeon for
P70. after that, another 2 young birds for P90 and P100 respectively.
We were done walking around and mission completed a little bit before
9am.

I learned a lot from these guys when it comes to buying pigeons. What
I would do is stand beside a possible buyer, someone who knows more
about pigeons than I do. I observe their choices in pigeons and listen
how much the seller is willing to give in. At least, I get the idea of
what a "good" bird looks like and how much its going to cost. From my
observation, P150 is already top money. I never heard of anything more
expensive than that. The usual cost is about P100 to 150. One seller
said that young birds cost more and they are a better buy because you
can still train them unlike the old birds.

My experience so far was very pleasant. The guys who sold me their
pigeons were nice and honest enough about their birds. One seller even
gave me a much lower price and picked out healthy ones for me to start
off as pets. I was obviously a newbie to them and to me, it's like
beginners luck.

iSight my new Mac display

Remember what happened to my Mac a week ago? The display suddenly had this ugly bluish horizontal line and it scared the sh** out of me. So I immediately brought to iSight (Macintosh Premium Reseller) for SOS. They told me that it will take at least a week for the new display to arrive.

Last night they sent me a text message informing that my new display just arrived and ready for installation. Too bad I couldn't make it right away so I opted to show up today.

I arrived about 1130 am at the store and they immediately worked on my mac. About an hour later while I busied myself tinkering with other Macintosh products on display. Voila! it's finished. done and ready to use.

The guys at iSight did a very good job on my Mac and I really recommend you check them out.

Blogorum Addictus

Blogging is highly addictive.

If only I can blog everything that I see, do and all else in between,
I'd be happy to.
I lifted this image of tita Anabell Rama from my other blog that is
currently "Noncom" (non-commissioned). The amount should be revised
and make it into P8.50 but what the heck! It's useless to change it
right now and have to change it again after a few months because of
oil price increase.

Enjoy.

tick tock tick tock... GET UP!

It is past 2pm on a cloudy saturday afternoon. I am still
procrastinating...
Just had a lite lunch but I feel very heavy. My sister said that we
should be doing the 3pm BodyPump class at FitnessFirst but from the
looks of it, we are NOT.

Why?

The other end of the hall where her bedroom is, bears no sign of
activity. I know for a fact that she is napping.
My partner on the other hand lazily plays with his ipod in our bed.
Not a good sign either.

So what am I to do?

Honest to goodness comfort food

Most foodies will agree with me when I say that this dish ranks among
one of the top comfort food of all time.

I was walking somewhere in Claro M. Recto street in the heart of old
Manila when these little suckers beckons me from this hole in a wall
joint. I knew right along the variety of food they were serving. The
usual Beef Wonton Mami and Siopao Asado. Since I didn't have anything
to eat for breakfast when I left home, its just fitting that I try and
order the classics.

I ordered a big bowl of Beef Wonton Mami for P75.00 (US$1.65), large
Siopao Asado for P45.00(US$1) and a small orange soda for P15.00 (US
$0.35) Total: P135.00 (US$3.00) of pure bliss.

The serving was bigger than usual (mall standards) which was great!
The taste? oh boy, definitely better than food court fare

The verdict? filling and I will definitely be back!

David Archuleta: Crush

Well well... just as I thought! My Archie finally did it. A mega hit debut single.
This song debuted last August 1, 2008 on a NYC radio station Z100. After just a day of airplay, "Crush" was able to debut at #93 on the Billboard Pop 100. Not bad, eh?
Last August 12, a digital download of the song became available. I got mine over at limewire. I will buy the original when I get back to the US.

Sing with me!

Crush
By: David Archuleta

I hung up the phone tonight, something happened for the first time, deep inside It was a rush, what a rush Cause the possibility that you would ever Feel the same way about me It's just too much, just too much Why do I keep running from the truth All I ever think about is you You got me hypnotized, so mesmerized, and I just got to know

Do you ever think, when you're all alone All that we could be, Where this thing could go Am I crazy or falling in love Is it real or just another crush Do you catch a breath, when I look at you Are you holding back, like the way I do Cause I'm trying, trying to walk away But I know this crush ain't goin away, goin away

Has it ever crossed your mind when we were hanging Spending time girl, are we just friends Is there more, is there more See it's a chance we've gotta take Cause I believe we can make this into Something that will last, last forever, forever

Why do I keep running from the truth All I ever think about is you You got me hypnotized, so mesmerized And I just got to know

Do you ever think, when you're all alone All that we could be, Where this thing could go Am I crazy or falling in love Is it realor just another crush Do you catch a breath, when I look at you Are you holding back, like the way I do Cause I'm trying, trying to walk away But I know this crush ain't goin away, goin away

Today was pretty slow.. I thought the day will just pass by without any excitement going on. HAH!
right after my power nap, about 2pm or so. I turned on my laptop and was stunned of what I saw on my screen.
If you look closer of the photo attached, there is this fine blue-ish vertical line on the right hand corner of the screen. IT SHOULDN'T be there. It's manifestation is what I call catastrophic and time for me to summon the powers of APPLECARE.

I immediately pulled my suitcase out and desperately searched for my applecare plan which I stashed together with other important documents I brought back from the US. To my shock, my applecare is not in there! I can feel the cold sweat breaking out of my forehead. Panic is slowly creeping in my system. I hurriedly looked for my computer bag. Maybe the certificate is in there. I rushed and opened my closet and reached for the bag. Thank goodness! it's there! my applecare certificate is inside. folded and stashed into one of the pockets.

I scanned the certificate.....  APPLECARE VALIDITY: August 14, 2008

WIthout thinking, I headed for the shower and cooled myself off from all of what is happening.

Right after, I sat in front of my laptop still wet from the shower and made a mental monologue.

"You are totally fucked! Apple Store is in Makati... there is no way you can make it"

Then, I remembered, there is an APPLE Store right near where I live. ALABANG TOWN CENTER!

I called ATC Concierge and asked for the store's phone number. Minutes later, I am on the phone with a Sales Associate named, David. He told me to bring the laptop and they will run a diagnostics and see what the problem is.

I dashed for my keys and out I went.

Soon as I walked in the store, a familiar face greeted me with a smile. I said, Gail....? is that you.

FYI, Gail was this super super woman who helped me with my previous dilemma with the same laptop. About a year and half ago. I had my laptop serviced in Makati Mac Center. They fixed the problem like replaced my fried motherboard in less than a week. BUT problems started piling up when they asked me to pick up my laptop. Upon close inspection, I saw there was a small speck on my screen. At first I thought it was booger or something. However, I gently ran my finger on it and it was not what I was thinking. IT WAS A DEEP SCRATCH! maybe some blunt object pricked it or however it happened but it was just there.

I composed myself and told this young female sales associate about the problem. She was also stunned how that scratch ended up there. I asked her to immediately call her supervisor and she did. A few moments later, their female supervisor came out. It was Gail.

She quickly pacified me as I was really ready to raise hell and throw fire coming out of my nostrils at them. She promised me that they will take care of the problem asap.

A week later, Makati Mac Center summed up the replacement on my macintosh.

1 motherboard
1 LCD (first installation - failure)
1 LCD (final installation - success)

If you are going to do the math on the replacements alone. It can easily sum up to a new 17" Macbook Pro.

Back at the store in Alabang. She greeted me and asked me when did I arrived. I answered back. In her head and the minute she saw me. She knows there is trouble again. Yes, she was right all along.

I told her about the problem and David, the sales associate I was talking to on the phone summed it all up.

Gail was really surprised but she acted quickly and was immediately on the phone talking to someone asking for a new LCD. She told me that everything will be fine and thank God for APPLECARE, which is expiring today. My ass is saved once again.

We exchanged a few stories here and there. Reminiscing the last macintosh ordeal that we had. But we just laughed about it. Thinking back, my laptop already cost....... $3000 + 1st batch of replacement, say, $2000 or more + $1000 for a new LCD. WOW!

So, in about a week. I will have my new LCD installed.

Thank God for APPLECARE.
God bless MACINTOSH

otherwise, I will have at least P50,000 worth of a problem.

Quick post...Wednesday

I was already out of my house around 6AM today. I promised to meet my hunny at the gym before we head out to Navotas (Oui!, Navotas... the far away land north of Manila) to interview some folks over at the health clinic.

Once I got there at the gym. I decided to take some pictures to show you how Fitness First Robinsons Manila look like. Though these are just a couple of photos and it will not do enough justice, feel free to comment and send them some love.

After a gallon of sweat from Cycling class and 30 minutes inside the shower. We headed to the Shoe Salon. I tried on a pair of Puma sneakers which I am ardently considering to purchase. What can you say about this awesome kicks? for Php 3750 a pair and that includes the sweet orange accent on the heel. I think this is definitely going to be ending up in my shoe closet.

Busy Day

Yesterday, I got up pretty early. Did my chores and called my friend Greg. It's his birthday and we decided to meet right after I finish my cycling class at the gym. After lunch we headed for the mall and here, I went on my quest for that kick-ass shoes I've been searching for. PUMA store. We were greeted by the sales associate and showed us the new arrivals. Nothing quite interesting for me so I scanned the rack and here I found this pair of lovelies. Puma ALSTEN II L @ Php 3750- not bad, eh?
I tried them on and they fit pretty well. I love the color too... silver with gray trim.
THEN I saw another pair: PUMA RING NM @ Php 3190-
Now, nothing too fancy when it comes to aesthetics here but let me tell you. This baby fits perfectly!
I was so close to pulling out my charge card and making the purchase BUT something told me to wait out for a but and shop around some more. Now, I remember the other pairs of PUMA that I saw at the Mall of Asia over the weekend. Maybe I should head back there and take a look once more. This time, I will try them on.
