Pleather = Faux.Faux.Faux

For over a month now, I have been procrastinating in buying a new pair of training shoes that I can use in the gym. We are talking about a badass-eyecandy-you drool over my trainer kind of footwear. I am in dire need of something that is gorgeous, comfortable and definitely NOT a knock-off.

Yes folks, I have succumbed to the Greenhills-168-Baclaran Flea Market fever Manila has been suffering from.

I purchased this "dud" a little less than year ago together with some chic friends when we all went to Greenhills to eat "chicken feet and pork spareribs". After our meal, we walked around the tiangge and marveled at the multitude of shoes sitting side by side. There were Nike, Puma, New Balance, Gucci and Prada - but were all knock offs. For the love of God, I don't know what came over me and found myself asking the sales assistant for a size 10. In less than 15 minutes, I handed over my P500 bill and walked away with a brand-new pair of "LowCoste (lacoste)".
The horror didn't stop there when I wore that pair of sneakers at my friend's New Year's ('08) party where everyone I know for sure are not wearing knock-offs.
You see, in all my life I have been an arbiter of fashion when it comes to footwear. Call me "Imeldific" or a shoe freak. I won't deny it, in fact, I really am. I know my shoe A-B to Z.  And for a dude, I have a lot of shoes! Fuckit, don't ask me how many pairs I own because I won't be able to tell you unless you ask me to do a piece count where I live right now and call my mom to check my shoe cabinet back in the east coast.

So here I am, writing this blog and thoughts racing in my head. Should I head out and find a new pair of training shoes?
